Today is the official release day of the hardcover and ebook editions of Salvage Right, the newest Liaden Universe® novel, by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller.

Below, for your reading pleasure, is a letter we wrote to accompany the eARC sent by Baen to industry professionals, which kind of puts Salvage Right into perspective, in our career, and explains why we’re quite so excited about this release.

We hope that 2023 has so far treated you well, and that as it continues to unroll, you will have many opportunities to share happiness, and to celebrate.

We’re writing because we have something to celebrate.

In July, Salvage Right, our one hundredth collaboration, also the twenty-fifth novel set in our original Liaden Universe® will be published...

We had a good time chatting with Griffin Barber.

Salvage Right, by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, the 25th Liaden Universe® novel (and their 100th collaborative work), will be officially released in paper and ebook editions July 4, 2023. We have word that some stores already have the hardback on the shelves; signed copies are available from Uncle Hugo’s bookstore in Minneapolis.

Dear Friends of Liad and all the ships in space:

July 4 rolls rapidly toward us and beside being an important celebration for Americans, this July 4 is the official release day for Salvage Right, which you may recall is Lee and Miller’s 25th Liaden novel and 100th collaborative work – so two landmarks with this one!

Two landmarks in one book is certainly cause for celebration, and we want as many people as possible to get the news and join us in the happy dance of accomplishment.

If you’d like to help us get the word out, we’d love to have your help. You may say that there’s nothing you can do, that you’re only a reader, don’t have any important contacts, or any connections.

And you would be wrong.

So, along about last Wednesday Steve and I loaded up Skylark the Subaru and, after taking on breakfast at Governor’s, got on the road to New Jersey.

In keeping with our new philosophy of “Don’t Kill the Authors,” we had already decided to make the trip in two stages, staying Wednesday night at Rutland, Vermont (our next door neighbor was horrified to hear that we had actually chosen to go to Rutland, but, hey, we’re easily amused).

Having taken the decision to split the journey, it was easy go make the follow-on decision to eschew the Big Road in favor of Routes 2/4/5/7 and Bob’s your uncle.  It was a delightful drive through a New England just starting to stir toward spring.  We were escorted by daffodils, roadside waterfalls, and tender tree-buds...
