Alliance of Equals by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller

The Question of the Month is apparently, “When will the next Liaden novel be published; it’s been so long since Dragon in Exile came out; I’m starving over here; feed me!”

. . .or words to that effect.

The Answer to the Question of the Month is!

Alliance of Equals is the next Liaden title; it will be published, in hardcover, by Baen, on July 5, 2016.

Also?  Dragon in Exile came out, in hardcover, on June 2, 2015, which really isn’t all that long ago.

Also, also, the eArc edition, if any, usually appears two to three months ahead of the hardcover publication.  So, you’re looking. . .April/May 2016 for the Alliance of Equals eArc.

We have been asked to write a short story in support of Alliance of Equals, which ought to be published to Baen.com on June 15, 2016.

The mass market paperback edition of Dragon in Exile is scheduled for June 2016.

The Liaden novel following Alliance of Equals is entitled The Gathering Edge.  Steve and I are working on this novel right now.  It is due on the publisher’s desk on February 15, 2016.  We do not have a publication date for this title.

The above represents the Entire Contents of My Head in re Alliance of Equals at this time.  When we have more — or different — news, we’ll shout it from the rooftops.

Thank you for your patience and support.

  • I apologize for a question that has probably been asked/answered preciously. But, do you get more if I buy the earc than if I just buy the final release? Also, is it better to buy directly from Baen than from Amazon? I have no problem supporting you in the manner best for you and Steve...

    • We get 25% of the cover price for all ebook sales (this includes eArcs), purchased from a reputable source -- Baen, Amazon, iBooks, Kobo, &c. So, given that the eArc is more expensive -- $15, is it still? -- we get on the order of a buck and a quarter more for each sold.

It's really the same principle as paper book sales -- by contract Steve and I receive X% of *cover* on all new books sold through reputable retail establishments. We still get the same percentage of cover even if a retailer deeply discounts the book.

Thank you for your concern; you're right that a lot of our readers want to buy our books in the way that benefits us the most. We're very fortunate in our readers, and the next time we update the FAQ, we'll add this question.
