Look up! The stars are dancing.
. .
Saltation
. . . a Liaden Universe® Adventure
by Sharon Lee
and Steve Miller
The continuing story of Theo Waitley and how she came to have a kind of
complicated problem to lay before the delm of Korval.
Now what?
Funny you should ask. Saltation is the sequel to Fledgling,
carrying on from where the first book left off. Like Fledgling,
it is going to be written Live! Without a net! Right before
your very eyes!
Saltation News!
Baen Books will be
publishing the dead tree editions of both Fledgling and Saltation.
Fledgling was published on September 8, 2009,
in hardcover. Saltation, now complete in first draft, has been
turned in and will be published on April 6, 2010. The Saltation eArc is now
available
from Baen webscriptions.
Those generous people who donated $25 or more to the
project-or-projects as they were being written will receive a signed
copy of the pertinent novel-or-novels when said novel-or-novels
is/are published. We cannot, with the best will in the world, send
you a copy of the book before it is published.
Thank you for your interest in and support of our work.

Saltation FAQ
Why are we
doing this?
Just between you and us? We're doing this because we had too much story
to fit into one book. Embarrassing, but there you are.
And, yanno? The reasons that started us on Fledgling
are still valid:
First, if we are ever to write the much-requested
"next book after I Dare," we'll need insight into Theo's
character. The way we gain such insight is to write a novel from that
character's viewpoint. Conflict of Honors began as exactly this
sort of character study.
Also? Fledgling and Saltation are
"side books." A
"side book" is a book that is coincidental to the main action of a
series, which is expected to be of little interest, except to stalwart
fans -- and to the authors. To put this in perspective, both Local
Custom and Scout's Progress are side books, falling outside
the main thrust of the Agent of Change sequence.
Subscription Cap!
Pre-subscriptions for Saltation will
be closed at 1,200 books.
That's books. That means you might want to check with Sharon at
saltationATkorval.com when you think you may
have accreted $25 in donations. The reason we're doing it this way is
that Baen Books will be publishing
the paper editions of Fledgling and of Saltation, and
they have agreed to pay part of the authors' advance in books, to cover
subscriptions up to 1,200 of each.
Also! The default for donations of $25 and over
is ONE BOOK. If you have donated $50 or more toward Saltation
and wish to receive MORE THAN one book, please, please for the Love of
Ghu, write to Sharon and tell her so.
We don't want to crush anyone's expectations and we really don't want
to cause unhappiness or create a scene. Work with us and everybody
wins, yes? Yes!
To help everybody keep up, here's where we are
so far, in terms of books ordered:
Only 107 copies of Saltation left!
Thank you all for your ongoing interest and
support!
